College Applications for Seniors
Seniors-5 Period Day, Second Semester

| | PLEASANT VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL 12th Grade Timeline Spring of Junior Year - Register and take ACT, SAT Reasoning /SAT Subject tests in spring of 11th grade 12th Grade: 1. Continue to take A-G courses 2. Continue with extra-curricular activities 3. Continue to get good grades 4. APPLY TO ANY SCHOLARSHIPS THAT YOU CAN! September 1. Register to take the ACT, SAT Reasoning Test and the SAT Subject Tests 2. Complete your Senior Profile Form and hand in to the counseling office. 3. Find out about scholarship deadlines 4. Make final selections as to which colleges/universities to apply 5. Send letters requesting applications to any private colleges/universities 6. GPA verification will be submitted to the Cal. Student Aid Commission by the PV counseling office for all seniors--you do not need to request this October 1. Go on-line to access applications for UC and CSU 2. Complete your college essay 3. Take the SAT/ACT Tests if necessary 4. CSU-Chico—On-the-Spot Admission days November 1. Apply for student housing at colleges that require early housing applications 2. Submit applications for the CSU/UC systems BEFORE NOVEMBER 28. 3. Check into necessary immunizations for colleges December
1. Take the SAT/ACT 2. Send applications to private colleges/universities if applicable (Many have December deadlines for priority admission) January 2009 1. Complete and submit your FAFSA www.fafsa.ed.gov(Free Application for Federal Student Aid) DO NOT wait for your parents to file their 2008 tax returns 2. Sign up for Reg-to-Go at Butte College in PV Career Center 3. Financial Aid Workshop February 1. Complete application for Chico Community Scholarship Association March 1. Receive your notification of admission from UC and most CSU campuses 2. If you are going to a Community College, apply and take placement tests 3. Start looking for your Financial Aid Offer Letter (They are usually mailed between March 15 and April 30) April 1. Make FINAL choice as to which college to attend-use Spring Break to visit final choice 2. Plan to take Placement Tests, if required, at individual colleges May 1. FIGHT OFF SENIORITIS! 2. | | College Applications for Seniors
Private Schools - Please remember to give teachers and counselors at least three weeks advanced notice if you need a letter of recommendation for private school applications. Seniors need to contact those schools now to obtain application and admission deadline information.
University of California/California State Universities - Applications will be available online beginning in October. Applications are due by November 28.
Butte Community College - The Butte College Reg-To-Go program will be held during the spring semester.
FASFA INFORMATION:
The FASFA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is due by March 3. Students should file the FASFA after January 1. To file on the web go to www.fasfa.ed.gov | |

Counselors will check for senior enrollment in graduation requirements upon finalization of first semester grades. Necessary adjustments will be made immediately. | |
