| | I have pursued art as a personal interest for as long as I can remember. I have an art studio at home and show my paintings and drawings locally. After graduating from Chico State, I taught out of the area for two years. I have taught at PV for the last 15 years and I’ve been Department Chair for three years. One of my goals as an art teacher is to help students find a positive creative outlet through the visual arts. I am amazed constantly by the art created by teen-agers and I am proud that many of my former students have gone on to pursue careers in the arts. A few years ago I received an Exemplary Program Award from the California Art Educators Association. | |

| | I graduated from California State University, Long Beach with degrees in physical education and art. I have had a life-long interest in ceramics, weaving, drawing, photography and printmaking. I have taken additional courses at CSUC, CAC and individual artist’s workshops. I believe that art is a process, not always an end-result. I want the students to have a positive experience in art and to explore as many mediums as possible. Art provides a basis of communication, a means for creative expression and a way for the student to learn about themselves. I taught art at Bidwell Junior High for 10 years, and I have been at PVHS since 2004. | |

| | Creating beautiful images is what I love to do! Sharing this enthusiasm with my students is a bonus. This is my 13th year teaching and my 10th year at PV. I have been a photographer since I was 12 years old. A friend of the family gave me a camera and pointed me in a direction that has become my career. My students challenge me to learn and grow as I push them toward their own unrealized potential. Showing student work to the public provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate their talents. It also opens doors for competitions, where many of my students have received Best of Show awards and various other forms of recognition. I love being a part of the PV art department; it is our own creative family. | |

| | Creativity is part of the human condition! This is the message that I want to get across to all those people who think they’re not artistic, not creative—and why I wanted to become a teacher. So much of art is in learning how to think and see from a range of perspectives and then to communicate a unique view. An artist all of my life—working in whatever medium I can get my hands on and explore: painting and drawing, photography and digital art, printmaking and airbrush painting—I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from CSU Chico. I exhibit art throughout Northern California, have won awards for my watercolor paintings, and am thrilled to be in my third year of teaching at PV where I can marvel daily at the creativity of high school students! Check out some of their work and other interesting links at Ms.Ritcher's webpage. See some art made by PV art teachers in Our Gallery! | |
